Greetings,

My name is Michael Reynolds, and it is a pleasure to be here!

I have been a UB student since 1978, and met my wife, Sue, at a Sacramento, California study group in 1991. We have two children, Joshua Amadon (7 1/2) and Solonia Ruth (1 1/2). We live in Santa Barbara, California.

The UB has answered many questions and solved many more mysteries in my life. It has helped replace a fear of death with the excitement of greater things to come. I look forward to awakening on the first Mansion World.

I do my best to live my life from the standpoint that I am soul with a physical body, versus a physical body with a soul. In this way, I keep my sights on the eternal adventure as much as possible, which does a lot to help me deal with day-to-day challenges.

---Michael

Welcome Michael.

I love the names you chose for your children.

I'm intrigued by your statement:
Quote:
I do my best to live my life from the standpoint that I am soul with a physical body, versus a physical body with a soul. In this way, I keep my sights on the eternal adventure as much as possible. . .

This idea would go well over in the "Both Human and Divine" thread. I'm curious if your approach to life lends itself to a sense of balance between the physical and the spiritual in your everyday experience. Have you discovered what the apostles learned?

"They learned that, when religion is wholly spiritual in motive, it makes all life more worth while, filling it with high purposes, dignifying it with transcendent values, inspiring it with superb motives, all the while comforting the human soul with a sublime and sustaining hope. True religion is designed to lessen the strain of existence; it releases faith and courage for daily living and unselfish serving. Faith promotes spiritual vitality and righteous fruitfulness." 1727:07

Dear Michael,

We are so lucky, aren't we? Like you, I have nowhere near the fear of death that I once had - in fact, I think about it quite often, and anticipate passing on with a bit of excitement nowadays...

I also love the names of your children - lucky kids! A new generation of readers coming up...you are so fortunate to have the Revelation as a parent. If there is one thing that I would change in my life, if I could, it would be that I discovered The Urantia Book BEFORE I became a parent.

Welcome to the forum, Michael...

Balance is the purpose of that viewpoint. I strive to view everything from a spritual perspective. It helps me to see the everlasting significance of wherever I involve myself. If something does not appear to have a lasting purpose, I do my best to deal with the situation in accordance with that conclusion. However, those things with everlasting significance require a lot of focus. Plus, ANYTHING involving relationship with others has everlasting significance.

Hi Maryjo,

Yes, it is great that both my wife and I are dedicated to the teachings. Our children are being raised believing in God and the UB teachings as a FACT. We do our best at proper times to present them with information about how others believe and live, always emphasizing respect for others.

Later, as they grow, they will be open to make their own conclusions and decisions. Hopefully, we will have given them the knowledge and experience necessary to make a choice that works best for themselves.

---Michael

Thank you, Larry. I think I once met you in Sacramento, back in the early 80's.

Sarah, rumor has it that Larry is an amateur astronomer - you may have seen him on Dancing with the Stars. "fess up" Larry, did we see you dancing with celebs?

Hi Michael -- yes, we met at a Sacramento study group. No Tasneem, sorry, not a celebrity. No fessing up required -- can't dance. There is a UB Larry who's an astronomer though but that's not me either. No claims to fame here. What you see is what you get.

Synapse welcome. Man it's so cool to read your post. It never ceases to amaze me how similar all our experiences are in respect to reading TUB.
There's hardly one thing you said that couldn't have come out of my mouth too. Well except meeting Larry in Sacramento. I met him here when he lived in Sacramento. :o

God Bless You Michael Sue and family!
