Why, of all the Sons of God, do the Lanondeks go astray. When I first read that Lucifer did not believe in the Eternal Father it blew me away. Little me, a descendant of a frog, - I believe! Sure, I had to work it out for myself, I wasn't born believing. But it's real for me now, and I know where to put my trust. And Lucifer? Why did he not believe?

I have some ideas abut that, open for discussion. First, a review:

35:8.1 (392.1) After the creation of the Vorondadeks, the Creator Son and the Universe Mother Spirit unite for the purpose of bringing into existence the third order of universe sonship, the Lanonandeks. Although occupied with varied tasks connected with the system administrations, they are best known as System Sovereigns, the rulers of the local systems, and as Planetary Princes, the administrative heads of the inhabited worlds.

35:8.2 (392.2) Being a later and lower—as concerns divinity levels—order of sonship creation, these beings were required to pass through certain courses of training on the Melchizedek worlds in preparation for subsequent service. They were the first students in the Melchizedek University and were classified and certified by their Melchizedek teachers and examiners according to ability, personality, and attainment.

So, consider that their order was not created directly from the Eternal Father. He knew who his father and mother were, but they were part of the conspiracy perpetuating the myth of the unseen, Eternal Creator. I believe Lucifer could conceive something so fantastic because of the unique nature of his order of Son-ship. A clue is given here:

35:8.7 (392.7) It is not possible, as it is with evolutionary beings, for these Sons to progress from one group to another. When subjected to the Melchizedek training, when once tested and classified, they serve continuously in the rank assigned. Neither do these Sons engage in reproduction; their number in the universe is stationary.

Apparently these Sons neither ascend or descend! Is it ever even possible for them to be in the presence of the Eternal Father on Paradise? We lowly humans will socialize on the Morontia worlds with beings who have seen Him, and we will be encouraged to know by direct experience the reality of All! Is this denied the lanonadeks?

In my human mind I want to find an excuse, or maybe a reason, for Lucifer's decisions. Is the Universe less than perfect in the spiritual domains? The following sections are enlightening:

35:9.7 (393.7) The large number of these Sons who have lapsed from integrity does not indicate any fault in creatorship. They could have been made divinely perfect, but they were so created that they might better understand, and draw near to, the evolutionary creatures dwelling on the worlds of time and space.

35:9.8 (393.8) Of all the local universes in Orvonton, our universe has, with the exception of Henselon, lost the largest number of this order of Sons. On Uversa it is the consensus that we have had so much administrative trouble in Nebadon because our Sons of the Lanonandek order have been created with such a large degree of personal liberty in choosing and planning. I do not make this observation by way of criticism. The Creator of our universe has full authority and power to do this. It is the contention of our high rulers that, while such free-choosing Sons make excessive trouble in the earlier ages of the universe, when things are fully sifted and finally settled, the gains of higher loyalty and fuller volitional service on the part of these thoroughly tested Sons will far more than compensate for the confusion and tribulations of earlier times.

I think I understand. What do you think?

I think you laid out the case very well, Gizmo. In order to relate to evolutionary will creatures Lanonandeks had to be created close of kin, which makes them vulnerable to pride and short-sigthedness. Lucifer loved himself so much that God was squeezed out. Caligastia resented authority and self-restraint so much Lucifer's declaration of independence appealed to him. Impatience played a role in the rebellion, the rebels wanted light and life without first attaining time/space perfection.

...He [Lucifer] intimated that they had been debauched by overmuch discipline and prolonged training, and that they were in reality traitors to their mortal fellows since they were now co-operating with the scheme of enslaving all creation to the fictions of a mythical eternal destiny for ascending mortals. 53:3:6 (604.1)

Reminds me of the situation for "spirit fused mortals", those ascenders whose career (at least in the current universe age) appears to be fulfilled in their local universe. As with Lanonandeks, the reason why "spirit fused mortals" form part of the plan for this universe age makes an interesting study. For example, here's a link (37:5.1) to the section about High Commissioners, and here's another (40:10.4) that reflects on long-term needs of local universes.

Regarding the Lanonandeks, here's a link (the Lanonandek Dilemma) to a study of this issue we had back in 2017.

Thanks for raising this!
Nigel

Nigel, I greatly appreciate the work you've done, and are doing, with your commentaries! Very insightful. I'm spending some time with it.

That is such a good study Nigel, but the link isn't working.

A couple of quick points. First, I suppose if I ever get really bummed out, I can always say to myself, at least I'm not from Henselon! (a little Urantia humor)

I have thought hard about why Lucifer turned, and Caligastia too. Christ Michael does give us a lot of leeway, as he does with his offspring the Lanonandeks; Michale trusts the system, he trusts the Father so much he has full faith no matter what happens he knows God's plan will prevail.

That is a lot of trust. Lucifer didn't have that trust, and his mistake was he thought it wasn't true. Kids sometimes think parents are preventing them from "growing," that is what happened to Lucifer. Caligastia just liked having power and was seduced by it.

We are also an experimental world. but have you ever thought why that is so?

We are a rough planet, probably among the worst, and certainly among the most evil.

But one day people from planets like ours will be needed to deal with future planets in the emerging systems of space that will be even farther out from Paradise, hence more likely to stray. It will be our experiences, here and now, that prepare us for those far distant ages our experience will be helpful to provide ministration to future ascenders on worlds tainted by sin.
