I believe that the Jesus Papers of the Urantia Book were primarily intended for those of a Christian background, who would otherwise be reluctant to accept the Urantia Book's enlarged concepts.

As long as you have a relationship with the Universal Father, does it really matter whether or not you consider Jesus to be a more significant spiritual teacher than Buddha or Muhammad?

It is my understanding that the Urantia Book is welcoming and accepting of all the world's major religions and great spiritual teachers.

Also, when Jesus in the Urantia Book taught the apostles to pray, it was directed to the Universal Father, not a particular spiritual teacher or divine incarnation.

Preston, read paper 194.2, the whole section, and witness the reality that Jesus is the Spirit of Truth, the maximum human perception of God, the potential of our ability to realize eternal life, as well as all truth taught by any other teacher past, present or future. We exist because Jesus is. He, being the Paradise Creator Son of Nebadon, is the living example of how life works and he gave us his Spirit of Truth to follow.

The Spirit of Truth is Jesus as well as the Heavenly Father, they are one.

So, to answer your question, yes it matters, the shortest distance between two points, i.e., where I am and Paradise, is Jesus. Everything else is distraction.

But let me be very clear, I do not mean that the earthly versions of the religions of or about Jesus are valid simply by their adherence to using his name. True religion is personal and singular, mine is mine and yours is yours. It is in the unity of our appreciation of eternal values that we come together. Jesus is the personification of absolute value.

Jim

The Urantia Book originated among people who were primarily from a Christian background, but it's also a book intended for people of all religious backgrounds.

The central figure of the Urantia Book, when you look at the book as a whole, is the Universal Father. In the Urantia Book, Jesus incarnates on this planet as a divine ambassador of the Universal Father, of the Fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man.

Jesus is more than an ambassador of the Father - he IS the embodiment of God for us.

"He who has seen me has seen the Father."

119:7.5 Joshua ben Joseph, the Jewish baby, was conceived and was born into the world just as all other babies before and since except that this particular baby was the incarnation of Michael of Nebadon, a divine Son of Paradise and the creator of all this local universe of things and beings. And this mystery of the incarnation of Deity within the human form of Jesus, otherwise of natural origin on the world, will forever remain unsolved. Even in eternity you will never know the technique and method of the incarnation of the Creator in the form and likeness of his creatures. That is the secret of Sonarington, and such mysteries are the exclusive possession of those divine Sons who have passed through the bestowal experience.

I agree. The Urantia Book also recognizes the validity of all the world's major religions, and all spiritual teachers throughout history who've taught a relationship with the Universal Father.

The ultimate purpose of the Urantia Book is to find a relationship with the Universal Father. The Urantia Book speaks favorably of major religions and spiritual teachers, throughout history, who've taught a relationship with the Father.

God loved a black man enough to have him carry the cross of Jesus Himself:

130:6.6 (1438.3) The travelers were truly rested and refreshed when they made ready about noon one day to sail for Carthage in northern Africa, stopping for two days at Cyrene. It was here that Jesus and Ganid gave first aid to a lad named Rufus, who had been injured by the breakdown of a loaded oxcart. They carried him home to his mother, and his father, Simon, little dreamed that the man whose cross he subsequently bore by orders of a Roman soldier was the stranger who once befriended his son.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyrene,_Libya

187:1.9 (2006.2) Shortly after passing through the gate on the way out of the city, as Jesus staggered on bearing the crossbeam, his physical strength momentarily gave way, and he fell beneath the weight of his heavy burden. The soldiers shouted at him and kicked him, but he could not arise. When the captain saw this, knowing what Jesus had already endured, he commanded the soldiers to desist. Then he ordered a passerby, one Simon from Cyrene, to take the crossbeam from Jesus’ shoulders and compelled him to carry it the rest of the way to Golgotha.

187:1.10 (2006.3) This man Simon had come all the way from Cyrene, in northern Africa, to attend the Passover. He was stopping with other Cyrenians just outside the city walls and was on his way to the temple services in the city when the Roman captain commanded him to carry Jesus’ crossbeam. Simon lingered all through the hours of the Master’s death on the cross, talking with many of his friends and with his enemies. After the resurrection and before leaving Jerusalem, he became a valiant believer in the gospel of the kingdom, and when he returned home, he led his family into the heavenly kingdom. His two sons, Alexander and Rufus, became very effective teachers of the new gospel in Africa. But Simon never knew that Jesus, whose burden he bore, and the Jewish tutor who once befriended his injured son, were the same person.
