I think this is quite amazing. ChatGpt seems to be a great tool to explore the relative meaning of concepts set forth in TUB and its general content. I’m curious about any experience of other members with querying ChatGpt about TUB. Do you think it’s a usefull tool? Can you get it to generate an incorrect answer?

Here's one reader's efforts using AI to explain the Foreword of The Urantia Book:

"The Urantia Book Foreword: Conceptual Expansion of the Foreword in The Urantia Book Using Open AI"

Soren Vestergaard put it together. Can't really say he's the "author." It is available on Amazon but it is something that anyone could do for themselves, as ChatGPT is available to anyone for free.

It seems to be a good simplification of the concepts, and could be a valuable tool for those who avoid the Foreword, or other parst of the book as too hard to understand.

Personally, I am still formulating my opinion about AI in general, but in this case, I think it might be useful. But it can get things wrong, too. If you look at the reviews for this book on Amazon you can see an example.

So, caution is advised. And in fact, there is a disclaimer on ChatGPT about this. So be aware of its limitations.

It is probably a good tool for understanding certain things in the book, but it is no substitute for the real thing, imo.

Fascinating indeed!!

However, I wonder about the source material(s)...?

"The book claims to have been authored by celestial beings or celestial personalities and was supposedly transmitted via "revelation" to a human contactee or medium."

No where does the UB say that nor does any history by the Forum members say anything about mediumship or revelation "to" a human.

The actual technique is not disclosed but it would be more accurate to say the UB was revealed via or through the God Fragment of a sleeping human who was not engaged in the process personally.

Still...fascinating!

Hi Bradly and Bart,

If you were to "tell" the Chat accumulator that ...

Bart/Brad wrote:

.. then it will add this fact to its store of "protoplasmic memory material" (101:6.4), and be able to use it in future enquiries.

UB 101:6.4 wrote:

Wisdom embraces the ideas formulated from protoplasmic memory in process of association and recombination, and such phenomena differentiate human mind from mere animal (NN: or machine) mind. Animals have knowledge (NN: and AI's have databases), but only man possesses wisdom capacity. Truth is made accessible to the wisdom-endowed individual by the bestowal on such a mind of the spirits of the Father and the Sons, the Thought Adjuster and the Spirit of Truth." (101:6.4)

I've played around with it a lot. In general, I like the answers that it gives me, but I don't trust them. It has been way off a few times. While I know what to expect, I don't trust it to give a good impression of the book to curious users.

Greetings. I hope we might learn the reality perspective presented in the UB here by the study and reference of its actual text.

The link you included is most unfortunate as it's title and content certainly and directly contradicts the Urantia Papers.

Personal outcomes are determined by each person's freewill choices and our response to the Divine Connection within and our experiential wisdom gained during our spiritization, based on our personal motives, intentions, priorities, and "decisions, decisions, and more decisions."

Our name, numerology, and so called destiny divined by magic numbers are all irrelevant to our progress on the path to Paradise and the eternal adventures to come.

150:3.8 (1681.3) 6. Divination, sorcery, and witchcraft are superstitions of ignorant minds, as also are the delusions of magic. The belief in magic numbers, omens of good luck, and harbingers of bad luck, is pure and unfounded superstition.

Inappropriate link removed! Thank you!

I agree.

omgherryan, the link in your post is inappropriate. Please delete it. This is not a place for members to promote websites that run counter to the teachings of The Uantia Book.

Personal free will is a fundamental attribute according to The Urantia Book. It is seen as a gift from the Universal Father, granting individuals the power to co-create their destinies. The book emphasizes moral responsibility, personal growth, and the alignment of free will choices with God's will. However, interpretations of free will may differ among individuals and belief systems.

What "interpretations" of freewill are you suggesting here? I am unsure what different definitions or functionality you might describe for us to consider.

Did you intend to imbed a hidden url for shop savvy in your post? It is shown/exposed by the [quote] function. Curious.

Are you yourself a bot or some AI invention I wonder? Hope not and please correct my confusions about your posts here.

Thank you.

Curious indeed. :-s

As someone who has been using chat GPT more frequently in my l life, I believe that GPT-3 and GPT-4 (the language models chat-gpt uses) have the potential to aid society in many creative ways. For example, I can use my AI-powered browser extension to summarize, rephrase, or simplify any concepts from the Urantia book papers to any desired level of detail. You can do the same with the free chat gpt by simply pasting the text in and prompting it. Additionally, the particular extension I use can even reference specific papers itself. However, it is important to compare some of its references to the original text for accuracy. Honestly, I haven't tried it myself but I imagine you can even have it write Urantia book based narrative illustrations for you if you asked it correctly.

There are many unknowns about the future of AI, but at this point, it's too late to stop its current rate of progress. Instead of avoiding and dismissing these tools out of fear, we should try to understand and use the tools given to us. At least for now

For those who are curious, the Monica Chrome browser extension I use is free, with paid options like chat-gpt, and offers other benefits as well. I won't include a link since I am unsure about the rules on that kind of thing, but it is easy to find on the extension web store.

I've used ChatGPT for "quick" help at work in being able to find both technical answers and the URL's containing the information. I agree that you cannot trust the information it provides, just as you ought not trust any source of information in general.

I've also "tested" it in being able to "think" beyond or deeper than the information channels it digests. There are definitely chokes or governors on what it will tell you and how it will process information. There is an assumption, for example on scientific or cosmological concepts and theories, that "consensus" viewpoints are the ones which should be disseminated and all others are very suspect. That is possibly wise in the short term but severely limits its ability to take things to the next step.

For decades I've been thinking that a proper AI or Machine Learning tool should be able to collect and evaluate any and all information and be able to correlate and integrate it cohesively. It should ultimately be able to piece together "likely" cosmologies and arrive at an understanding of the most consistent "cosmology" regardless of what any human group currently believes.

I've considered initiating the construction of such a tool, but obviously it would take tremendous resources and concentration to build and perfect. But what a project!
